Thanks Manhattan Portage! I picked up this bag as a lighter alternative to my usual camera bag for a 10 day trip to Japan. My 4 inch deep inserts from my camera bag fit in here perfectly. In addition, I was able to squeeze in a 10 inch netbook with a neoprene sleve and still have some spare room for a book or water bottle. All the pockets are very well thought out. I used the front angled pocket for coins (much more important in Japan than in the US). My internal zippered pocket held important documents along with some first aid items. I clipped my mp3 player onto the inside front pocket. Random items like a travel guide or point and shoot camera went in the outside front pocket. It's the perfect size for a walkaround bag when traveling. I would highly recommend Manhattan Portage to sell custom inserts to go with this as it is a perfect size for an inconspicuous travel camera bag. The bag and all zippers, hooks appear very sturdy. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. This bag helped me enjoy my trip!

I have a bag fetish. Until now, I'd been in a multi-year, unsuccessful quest for the perfect bag. I wanted something light weight with lots of pockets for organizing and a wide strap for comfort. Something with a big, versatile main compartment and a way to store a few smaller items without opening the entire bag (particularly important on public transportation). In addition, I didn't want all of the pockets to be trapped inside the main compartment (like my messenger bags from another popular retailer) because sometimes I want to fill the middle with a jacket, a camera insert or some other large item that makes it difficult to access interior pockets (like the other reviewer, I've found my padded SLR insert works perfectly in the small West Side Bag). In this bag I've finally met these requirements and then some. It's a handsome accessory that goes everywhere with me. Initially I wished it had a place for pens, but I purchased a simple tin to keep them in and now I prefer that (no more pen caps popping off in the bag). Don't think twice about the West Side Bag. It's the perfect blend of function and form.

Dear Manhattan Portage, I've only had my new bag for two days, and I absolutely love it! All the pockets are terrific to keep all my small items separated, and the big pocket has enough space for throwing in notebooks, magazines, my small camera and loads of other items. But what's the best part? I am a photographer, and I have an old insert from a Domke bag, which fits perfectly in the big pocket! I can now carry around one of my pro cameras without my bag screaming, "I have a camera in me!", plus it has the extra protection from my old insert. I have tried unsucessfully for several months to order a different bag from another maker who will remain un-named, and have been getting the run-around. I am glad I found your site and ordered this bag. It is so much nicer than the one I orignally wanted, and is better constructed, too. Thank you for making sucha versatile bag!
